TV Guide Names "100 Moments that Rocked TV"
Sure, Elvis and the Beatles are there, and so is MJ's moonwalk.  But who was that doing the Hucklebuck in prime time on February 11, 1956?

It wasn't former US President Bill Clinton, although his June 3, 1992 appearance on Arsenio nabbed the top spot on the list. The top 10 moments included Jacko's 1983 debut of the moonwalk, the launches of MTV and American Bandstand (1981 & 1957, respectively, in case you weren't there), and -- perhaps without enough historical perspective, and with a different interpretation of the word "rocked" -- Fox's American Idol.

Prowling elsewhere on the list are Madonna, John Belushi/Joe Cocker, John & Yoko & Mike (Douglas), Tiny Tim and, yes, Hucklebuckers Jackie Gleason & Art Carney.

The list was developed by TV Guide and VH-1, whose show "100 Greatest" is built around the manufacture of such lists (100 Best Love Songs, 100 Most Shocking Moments, etc.)

"Top X" lists are usually a subjective load of... subjectivity, and this one is no exception.  Only time will tell whether The Osbournes will remain more significant than 70's educational TV staple Schoolhouse Rocks, but in the meantime, this list is a reminder of how TV and music have become so intertwined over the years, and how much fun TV can be when it does rock.
